The Race of Life Only Depends On You

As humans, there are certain things or events in life that force us to take a moment and look at our surrounding.  These moments sometimes push us to quit or resign on goals that we could have had, but decided that they were no longer aspirations that we want to pursue. In our desire to fit in and please people around us, like our family, decisions are made, that not necessarily are in lined with what we want but occur out of commitment. This process changes the focus from ourselves on to the desires of others, and in reaction to this, an act of defiance is needed to change from the desires of others onto ours.

In the movie the Running Brave, Billy Mills’ character encounters several obstacles that distract him from his life goals. This obstacles are seen in the daily obstacle we all face. In certain occasions these obstacles can come from our family. They don’t allow for the individual forming to take their own decisions, and limit them by imposing their way of thinking on to their lives. This imposed thought process may limit the decisions made out of consideration, of the thought process, of another and not focusing solely, on their own selves in the decision making. This could later in life make us wonder what would have been if we had listen to our voice, and not the voices of others. In the movie, Mills is discriminated based on his race, which it should not be a factor because your ancestry is not a reason to limit a human’s capability to perform.   This social habit of being compared to an ideal is flawed because comparing yourself to a standard you will never reach gets you exhausted by just trying to prove them wrong and is not focused on the desires of the individual or what makes them happy.

Life is not of who did things faster, it is who finished best.

  2. I agree! Although it may sound a little selfish, we need to do the things because we want to do them and not to just please others.

  3. I definitely do everything for me, for what I want and just like Krystal said not to please others and is not about being selfish is about being happy with who you are and the goals you accomplish.
